Sima Wen Ancestral Hall is located between the slope ridge in the hills of Beimingtiao of Xiaochao Village, Shuitou Town, Xiaxian County. Sima Guang (1019-1086), with his courtesy name Junshi, was born in Sushui Town, Xiaxian County, Shanzhou of Northern Song Dynasty, referred to as "Mr. Sushui" . He has been smart since his childhood, whose story of "saving the child by breaking the jar with a rock" became a well-known story. He was a Jinshi (a successful candidate in the highest imperial examinations) during the reign of Baoyuan, serving four dynasties: Renzong, Yingzong, Shenzong and Zhezong. In the first month of Yuanyou's third year, the royal family of the Song Dynasty gave him a royal funeral to his ancestral grave. He edited "History As A Mirror", "Acta of Sushui" and so on.
On June 1st, 2004, the Ministry of National Post held the debut of the stamp "Sima Guang Breaking the Jar" to commemorate this great man in history here. Sima Guang Temple, as a famous scenic spot in the golden triangle area of the Yellow River in Shanxi, Shaanxi and Henan provinces, also enjoys a high reputation in China.
